Converting a Thinkpad T61 high resolution screen (1920x1200) to a multiple-input field monitor.

Portable monitors suffer from some major drawbacks. On top of my list is the screen resolution - most have the LOW resolution of 1366x768, and use USB for video. Any higher resolution alternatives cost more than $300. Here is an upcoming low cost, high resolution monitor is from Asus, for $209 - http://blog.laptopmag.com/asus-mb168b-portable-monitor

I already had an extra high resolution screen laying around from a Thinkpad T61p laptop, so I decided to put the screen to use. This solution doesn't need a USB port for video, re-uses an extra laptop screen, has slightly higher resolution than 1080p, and costs around $100 to make.

The tape seen inside the unit isn't cheap (flammable) packing tape! I use kapton tape because it's thermally stable up to 400°C. If it's good enough for space suits and satellites, it's good enough for my purposes.
